hi! i'm kate! this blog represents my opinions and experiences as i prepare for my move to cambodia to be an english teacher and teacher trainer. i am embarking on this amazing opportunity with my husband, chris, and you should check out his ramblings

chris and i met in college- american university in dc, to be exact. we did normal college things...

| in college.... and at hooters? |
...and spent some time abroad- me in rome and chris in beijing.
 |
| chris came to visit me while we were abroad |
after college, we went on a whirlwind four week backpacking tour of the world, stopping in beijing, moscow, prague, budapest, interlaken and paris, among others.

then, i joined teach for america, and chris pursued his graduate degree at american.

| during these two years, caps games were a saving grace for our both of our sanity. |
now, four years out of college, we're seeking our next adventure of joining the peace corps. along the way, we hope to learn from another culture, share our american one, and, if we're successful, leave the world, and ourselves, a little better off.
this blog's title is derived from a reference to our last name and my work toward mellowing out my type a personality (meaning, i promise i do know how to spell marshmallow.) :)
